Our kids today will almost never know how important it actually is to stay healthy. That’s why our Essential home health care firm is here to help. We understand it’s hard to get to their little minds with just words. Well here are a couple of tips for you to Help Your Children Get Healthy Habits and keep them!
Encourage children to consider what they eat and how they exercise when making decisions.
Be a good role model –
None of us are perfect, and we don’t have to be perfect all of the time, but if our children see us striving to eat well and get enough exercise, it will send the message that these things are important to your family, and they will want to emulate us.
Get The entire family –
Plan times for the entire family to engage in physical activity, such as going on walks, riding bikes, swimming, or even gardening and playing hide-and-seek outside.
Limit TV, playing video games, or using the computer.
These activities are sedentary, and when combined with snacking, they raise the risk of obesity. Limit yourself to two hours every day.
Make dinnertime a family affair –
Sitting down to eat together encourages children to eat the correct foods and reduces snacking. Getting the kids involved in the meal planning and preparation process is also an excellent method to instill good eating habits in them.
Choose truly satisfying rewards –
Instead of rewarding youngsters with video games and snacks, consider taking them to the playground.
Stay Involved-
Be an advocate, insist on healthy food choices at school, and make sure your child’s BMI, B/P, and cholesterol are being monitored by their pediatrician. (BMI is commonly referred to as BMI-for-age because it is age and sex specific for children and teenagers.)
Remember our kids are very fragile and absorb any and everything they see and hear so let’s be good role models, as said in the above tips, and give our kids good habits for their health now and in future.
